Marion Moves Forward With Automated Traffic Cameras

(Marion, IA) -- The City of Marion is moving forward with a plan to install automated traffic cameras.

There's no word on where they'll be placed, but city officials have said problem areas are at Highways 13, 100, and 151.

Drivers could be mailed tickets for going five miles per hour or more over the speed limit.

Possible fines vary from $50 to $500.

The Marion City Council approved a five-year contract with Sensys Gatso for the traffic cams, with a two-year extension possible.
