DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa farmers almost have the state's entire corn crop in the ground.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture says mostly dry weather last week gave farmers nearly five full days in their fields.

They say the state's corn crop is now 95 percent planted--about nine days ahead of last year and 12 days ahead of the five-year average.

The Ag Department also says 84 percent of Iowa’s expected soybean crop has been planted, just over a week ahead of last year and nearly two weeks ahead of normal.

The National Weather Service forecast doesn't bring rain into the forecast this week until late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
