All of Iowa Under Air Quality Alert

DES MOINES, Iowa -- An Air Quality Alert is in effect for the entire state of Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says ozone levels near federal health standards are expected to increase throughout the day.

They say elevated levels of fine particles and ozone may be a concern over the next several days as smoke from Canadian wildfires moves through the state.

The DNR recommends people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children limit prolonged time outdoors until air quality conditions improve.

The Air Quality Alert is in effect until 7:00 Wednesday night.
