No Charges In Shooting For Des Moines Woman Who Killed Live-In Boyfriend

(Des Moines, IA) -- Prosecutors in Des Moines will not charge a woman, saying instead she shot her live-in boyfriend to death in self-defense last month.

Polk County Attorney Kimberly Graham made the announcement Tuesday.

22-year-old Ezekiel Williams was shot on May 20th and died one week later.

Police say an investigation found Williams had assaulted his girlfriend and their children that evening.

Under Iowa law, a person can use deadly force if it is reasonable to believe that such force is necessary to protect themselves or someone else.
