Bettendorf Woman Turns Herself In In Deadly East Moline Crash

(East Moline, IL) -- A Bettendorf woman is in custody, accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian in East Moline. Police say 36-year-old Julius Figures of Moline was hit and killed by a car in the 800 block of 19th Street just after 9:00 p.m. Monday. They say 31-year-old Sophia Powell stayed at the scene after the crash and was allowed to leave pending charges. Then Thursday Powell turned herself in on charges of aggravated reckless driving and reckless driving. Police say she also has more than a dozen previous traffic violations. She's being held on $2,000 bond.
