Iowa City Bus Rides Free For Two Years

(Iowa City, IA) -- Riding on buses in Iowa City will be free for the next two years starting August 1.

Fare Free Iowa City is a two-year pilot program to study the effects of making fares free, looking to improve access to safe, affordable, and sustainable transportation.

It's also moving the city closer to its goal of reducing carbon emissions by 45% by 2030.

Iowa City Transit says anyone with a 31-day, 10-ride, or other passes will want to use them before August.

More information can be found on the city's website.
