Iowa Attempted Murder Suspect Shot, Killed In Standoff

(Clinton, IA) -- The man wanted for Attempted murder in Clinton is dead after a shootout with police in Illinois. The Champaign County Coroner confirms the man killed in the shootout is 39-year-old Randy Allen Jackson who was wanted for shooting a man July 2nd, and a woman July 3rd.

The Division of Criminal Investigation, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton County Communications, Davenport Police Department, Moline Illinois Police Department, and Danville Illinois Police Department located a vehicle associated with Randy Allen Jackson in Danville Illinois.

Jackson led officers on a chase in the vehicle before getting out and trying to run. He was found a short time later by an officer with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in a detached garage near the intersection of Homer Lake Road and County Road 2250 East, south of St. Joseph, IL.

Jackson engaged in a standoff and SWAT and crisis negotiators were called to the scene. Jackson refused to comply and a trooper discharged their firearm striking Jackson, who was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital where he died early Tuesday morning.
