OPPD Works To Wrap Up Power Restoration

The Omaha Public Power District hopes to finish up most electrical restorations by late tonight with the number under one thousand, but, in some ways, this can be the toughest time after a storm hits.

"We're down to the point now where it's a lot of door-to-door, one or two at a time being restored, as opposed to when a whole circuit goes out, you get that restored and you can bring a whole bunch of people on at once," OPPD's Jason Kuiper tells KFAB Radio News

Kuiper says they are getting help from other utilities and contractors, which he says is an advantage of public power companies.

Kuiper says the utility is using 50 crews dedicated to just cutting through the maze of trees and downed limbs, and, in moving fast, property owners are responsible for clearing any debris left behind.
