Vera French Gets $9.4 Million To Create Affordable Housing

(Davenport, IA) -- The Vera French Community Mental Health Center and Housing in Davenport is getting $9.4 million from the Iowa Finance Authority to construct 30 new affordable housing units.

The funds will help build Carol's Village Gardens near Vera French's Carol Center.

Vera French currently has 142 housing units in Davenport and Bettendorf designated for people recovering from mental illness.

According to a press release, A diagnosis is not required to apply for a unit at the new development. However, some units will be set aside for those experiencing homelessness.

Applicants will be considered for eligibility based on their income.
