(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Police Department is asking the public's help in identifying a suspect who they say impersonated a law enforcement officer during a theft.
Police say the victim of the theft had ordered lumber online, but on June 21st, a man representing himself as a police officer or Sheriff's Deputy arrived and told the victim that the lumber was stolen. The man told the victim to have the lumber loaded onto a nearby truck, which left the scene afterward. Anyone with information on the suspect's identity is asked to call Des Moines Police at (515)237-1551. Police say anyone suspecting that someone is impersonating a law enforcement officer should call 9-1-1 immediately.
