Time Running Out On Omaha City Councilmember

An effort to recall jailed Omaha City Council member Vinny Palermo did not go anywhere and failed, but his days on the council could be numbered.

The Omaha City Charter allows for his removal from the council after three consecutive months of unexcused absences.

That could happen next Tuesday, July 25th.

Palermo has been ordered to remain in jail while awaiting trial in federal court on nine felony fraud counts, to which he pleads not guilty.

He was taken into custody April 21st.
