(Lincoln, NE) -- Starting next school year cell phones and other personal electronic devices will be banned at Lincoln Public Schools. The school district says when students return to class next month they won't be allowed to have their phones during class.

Elementary, middle, and high schools will all have different rules to follow when it comes to cell phones. Elementary students will be asked to leave their phones at home or have them turned off and put in their backpacks. Middle schoolers must have their phones off and put away at all times. High school students can't have their phones in class but they will be allowed to use them between classes and at lunch.

The school district says if a student refuses to give up their phone they may have it confiscated and face discipline.
