West Des Moines Accepting Registrations For Cardboard Boat Race

(West Des Moines, IA) -- Registration is underway for a cardboard boat race in West Des Moines. The competition will feature awards for Fastest Boat, Most Creative, Best Corporate Boat, West Des Moines Spirit Award, Team Spirit Award, and The Titanic Award. The Raccoon River Rally will be October 14th in West Des Moines.

“The cardboard boat race is an exciting tradition that we love bringing to the community every year,” said Katherine Harrington, President and CEO of the WDM Chamber. “It’s an event where contestants get to test their creativity, imagination, and collaboration. We hope to see everyone cheer on this year's contestants for the fun work that they’ll put together.”

All ages can participate and there is no limit regarding the number of people on a team. The number of heats (races) will be determined after all applications are received. Entries are confirmed on a first-come/first-served basis. The Raccoon River Rally is free to the community and will feature a variety of local food truck vendors, a Family Fun Zone, cardboard boat races, live music, and more.
