Food Bank Of Iowa Marks Record Year

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines-based Food Bank of Iowa continues to see record demand. The agency distributed 21-million pounds of food during the just-ended fiscal year, 4-million pounds more than the previous year. The Food Bank of Iowa says along with 700-partner agencies, in 55-Iowa counties, they served more than 660-thousand households.

The Food Bank of Iowa served:

  • 759,043 children (age 18 and under)
  • 734,043 adults (age 19-59)
  • 287,308 older Iowans (age 60+)

The agency is also touting it's volunteer service, noting a record 9,739 volunteer shifts filled at Food Bank of Iowa in FY2023, representing 33,334 hours of service.
