Cedar Rapids Area Men Complete Global Flight To End Polio

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cousins and Rotarians Peter Teahen and John Ockenfels completed their 90-day, global Flight to End Polio on Sunday. The two traveled in a single engine airplane more than 25,000 miles and stopped in nearly two dozen countries during their journey. They spent more than 160-hours in the air. The effort was designed to raise awareness and funds to help combat polio which has made made a resurgence in two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The trip had the backing of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

A crowd of well wishers greeted the two as they landed in Cedar Rapids Sunday.
