NWS: Northern Iowa Damage Caused By EF-1 Tornado

(Franklin County, IA) -- The National Weather Service says an E-F 1 tornado packing 90-mile per hour winds caused damage in north central Iowa Friday, July 28th. The tornado touch down late Friday afternoon near Popejoy, east of I-35, causing damage to some farm buildings. Staff are still analyzing data, to determine how long it was on the ground. The NWS says there are periodic chances for more storms this week in Iowa.

Storms developed Friday afternoon, primarily in north central and northeast Iowa before existing the state Friday evening.
