National Study: Iowa 7th Cheapest State for Owning a Home

(Iowa) -- A new national study ranks Iowa among the top ten cheapest states for owning a home.

Real estate website Agent Advice analyzed home prices across the country from March of 2021 through March of this year. The study ranked Iowa as the 7th cheapest state for owning a home, with an average home price of $200,038. Iowa has seen a 17% increase in property values since March of 2021.

The top five cheapest states for home ownership include:

  • West Virginia - average home price of $146,578
  • Mississippi - average home price of $162,292
  • Arkansas - average home price of $178,744
  • Louisiana - average home price of $182,959
  • Oklahoma - average home price of $188,453
