(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Area Religious Council says its food pantry set a record this week for the number of people served.

DMARC says its food pantry network served 1,728 hundred people on Tuesday, August 1st, a single-day record in the 48 year history of the organization. DMARC say June of this year was the second busiest month on record, while July was the third busiest month ever. The organization is hosting a food drive event at Kinship Brewing Company Thursday from 5pm-8pm where people can donate food items. Kinship says it will take $1 off people's tab, up to $7, for every food item donated.

Individuals and organizations can find more about how to host a food drive on the Des Moines Area Religious Council's website.
