Storms Pack Damaging Winds, Heavy Rain In Iowa

(Undated) -- Strong storms Saturday night caused wind damage in several western Iowa locations. Strong winds were recorded in Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, and Sac counties, causing tree damage and some damage to farm buildings. The Sac County city of Lake View recorded 4.5 inches of rainfall, which caused minor flooding Saturday night.

Another round of storms this (Sunday) morning dumped around 3 inches of rain in some of the same areas. National Weather Service forecasters say isolated off-and-on-showers storms are possible in Iowa today (Sunday) with heavier rain in northern Iowa, possibly 2-4 inches.

The Des Moines International Airport received more than one inch of rain in the last 24-hours.

The National Weather Service says the cold front that arrived this weekend will bring cooler temperatures this week.
