(Undated) -- Omaha is seeing a record-high number of filled jobs. The Nebraska Department of Labor says Omaha's employment is now at 502,009. That's part of the overall Nebraska unemployment report for July, which shows the unemployment rate went up just slightly to 2.0%

"The unemployment increase in Nebraska is really just a simple math calculation," says Nebraska Department of Labor Research Administrator Scott Hunzeker. "Basically the employment numbers, the unemployment numbers, and the total labor force were virtually flat, and so really the increase in Nebraska is kind of just a rounding issue. It was very close to being 2.0% last month."

Nebraska's unemployment rate is still tied for fourth-lowest in the nation with North Dakota. New Hampshire had the lowest unemployment in July at 1.7%, which is the lowest of any state ever.

Nebraska also saw a dip in jobs last month, but Hunzeker mostly attributes that to school being out.

"Over the year we're up about 20,000 jobs," says Hunzeker. "For open jobs we've seen that decline a little bit. It's still a very high number, there's about 40,000 open positions."

The national unemployment rate dropped .1% in July to 3.5%, same as it was this time last year.
