(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The intense summer heat is causing a surge in homeless people looking for an air-conditioned place to stay. The Willis Dady Shelter in Cedar Rapids says they are out of bed space for the local homeless population. Willis Dady is the only male shelter in Linn County.

Iowa's News Now reports the shelter typically has 30 single men's beds and 10 beds for veterans. The shelter says donations are needed, and that the community has been stepping up to help out.
