Des Moines Man Facing Charges After Two County Chase

(Warren County, IA) -- There are new details about a two-county chase that ended in Des Moines Friday, August 18th. Indianola Police say a reckless driver nearly hit five people, including four children. Police say the driver led officers on a chase into Polk County, where he crashed at Fort Des Moines. Thirty-eight-year-old Benjamin Royer of Des Moines is in the Warren County jail, facing the following changes:

Attempted Murder (3 counts)

Assault with a dangerous weapon (4 counts)

Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations (2 counts)

Interference with Official Acts

Eluding

Reckless Driving (2 counts)

Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle

Speeding (3 counts)

Improper Lane Change

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
