(Polk County, Iowa) -- The Polk County Emergency Management Extreme Temperatures Plan is in effect due to triple digit heat indexes.
The plan is expected to be active through Friday. As part of the plan, Des Moines Area Regional Transportation buses will provide free rides to any of the Polk County cooling centers.
The list of those cooling centers is available on the Polk County website.
