Meteorologists with the Omaha National Weather Service based in Valley say the heavy heat is expected to hang around one more day in the Omaha/Council Bluffs region, with southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa seeing the brunt of it.
But, they say cool weather is to ride in on a cold front for the weekend, with highs in the low to mid 80s;
Before that, though, an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect until eight Friday evening for East Central and Southeast Nebraska and Southwest Iowa, including Omaha/Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
