Husker Football Player Arrested

Lincoln Police report a member of the Nebraska football program has been arrested in connection with a burglary early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say 21- year old Arik Gilbert was booked into the Lancaster County Jail for burglary.

Lincoln Police say officers were sent to "S. J.'s Liquor and Vape Shop" at 26th and O Streets around two a.m..

Officers saw that a glass door had been shattered and then saw a suspect walking toward the exit carrying a bag.

Police say officers arrested Gilbert without incident.

Lincoln Police say the total value of the stolen items in the bag was $1,672.07 and included a variety of vape products, Delta 8, cigars and lighters.

Damages to the business were approximately $650, according to police.

Gilbert had transferred into the Husker program from Georgia.

He was originally with LSU.
