Nebraska's New Concealed Carry Law Now in Effect

(Omaha, NE) -- Nebraska's new concealed carry law, Legislative Bill 77, went into effect on Saturday. It allows gun owners to carry a firearm concealed without a permit. Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert has responded by signing an executive order banning firearms in all city owned and leased buildings, libraries, and parks. A similar executive order was also signed by Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird. The law also prohibits local entities from placing gun control measures, such as gun registries, on legal firearm owners.

The State of Nebraska will still offer the concealed carry permits, which would still have reciprocity in some other states.
