(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The cities of Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha are establishing a railroad quiet zone.

The quiet zone will affect the Chicago, Central, and Pacific railroad and go into effect on Friday, September 22nd. While in the quiet zone, trains will no longer be allowed to routinely use their horns as they approach crossings at Blairsferry Road, Center Point Road, and the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.

Horns will still be allowed in certain scenarios, such as safety risks.
