(Davenport, IA) -- The Federal Railroad Administration announced this morning that it's investing nearly 3-million dollars for rail safety improvements along Davenport's riverfront. New signals and gates will be added along the Canadian Pacific-Kansas City (CKPC) railroad line. The increased amount of traffic along the rail line has been a safety concern since the Canadian Pacific-Kansas City Southern merger was completed earlier this year. The money comes from the Federal Infrastructure Law. The city of Davenport, and CPKC will also contribute 20-percent each to the cost of the project.
