Omaha Police Investigate Homicide

Omaha Police say a woman wounded near 37th and Grand Avenue has died.

Detectives say 19-year old Dontayzhia Swift was taken to a hospital around nine Wednesday evening in extremely critical condition with life saving procedures being carried out by paramedics.

Police say she was later pronounced dead.

Officers were originally called to the area for a number activations of the "Shotspotter" technology.

Gang Unit officers responding to the call saw a white Chevrolet Tahoe leaving the area.

Patrol officers then saw the vehicle near 31st and Sorensen Parkway and began to follow it.

The pursuit ended in the area of 41st and Spaulding Streets.

Two people were taken into custody and brought to Omaha Central Police Headquarters to be interviewed.
