(Rock Island, IL) -- A Quad Cities woman accused of hiding her son's body in a trash can has made her first court appearance.

A lawyer for 38 year-old Sushi Staples filed a motion in Rock Island County court questioning her mental fitness to stand trial. The judge agreed and ordered a psychiatric evaluation.

Police say after denying she had a son, Staples told them ten year-old Zion accidently shot himself while left home alone with a loaded gun last December. Police found his body in her trash can in late July.

Staples next court appearance is Thursday. She's charged with concealing a death, and child endangerment.G
