(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Fire has destroyed a home in southwest Cedar Rapids. Crews were called to a manufactured home in the 200 block of Ripon Street after 10 o'clock this (Monday) morning.
Crews arrived to find the structure fully involved and immediately began firefighting operations.
Crews were able to put out the fire by 10:40 a.m. but smoke and steam continued for a longer period of time due to the amount of material inside the home. The home is expected to be a total loss due to the severity of the fire, smoke, and water damage.
No one was home at the time except a few pets (2 cats and a snake) which are presumed dead.
