Tournament Spotlight Shines On Nebraska College Volleyball

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are the No.1 overall seed for the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship and will again host the first and second rounds at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this Friday and Saturday.

The Big Red will take on Long Island University Friday at seven p.m.

The 4:30 p.m. match Friday has Missouri playing Delaware.

Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday, December. 2nd at 7 p.m. in Lincoln.

The UNO Mavericks, Summit League Champs, will play Kansas this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena in Lawrence.

The winner will face the winner of fifth-seeded Penn State and Yale at Horejsi on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

With 19 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, including a National Championship in 1996, the Mavericks will play in the Division I Tournament for the first time ever. 

The Creighton Volleyball team will also appear in the NCAA Tournament when the Jays take on Colgate at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Omaha on the Creighton home court.

Creighton will host the first two rounds.

Minnesota and Utah State will also play Friday at 4 p.m.

The winner of the Creighton/Colgate match-up will meet the Minnesota/Utah State winner in the Second Round on Saturday, at 6:30 p.m. at D.J. Sokol Arena on the Creighton campus.

In the NCAA Division II Womens' Volleyball Championships, Nebraska-Kearney takes on Southwest Minnesota St. at Noon Thursday in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Wayne St. will play Minnesota-Duluth in St. Paul at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
