(Bettendorf, IA) -- The city of Bettendorf is closing a dog park until further notice. In a press release, the city says concern over the spread of a kennel cough-like respiratory virus is the reason for the closure of Crow Creek Dog Park.

The highly contagious virus has been spreading among dogs throughout the Midwest. Veterinarians advise people to keep dogs apart to reduce the spread.

Bettendorf cancelled their annual Holiday Dog Walk yesterday.
