Des Moines Police Respond To 200+ Calls On New Year's

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Police had a busy New Year's. Police responded to more than 260-calls between 8 p.m. New Year's Eve and 6 a.m. New Year's Day. In one case, a 35-year-old armed felon was charged with OWI-2nd Offense after he crashed his car into barricades on Court Avenue after speeding away from State Troopers.

Police say a 23-yr-old male was the first arrest of the year, after he was charged with Public Intoxication following a dispute at a bar.

Des Moines Police say they also resolved 45-fights or domestic cases and 30-fireworks complaints.

Police also were called out on14-shots fired cases.
