Person Hospitalized After Car Was Hit By Train In LeClaire

(LeClaire, IA) -- One person is hospitalized after a train crashed into a car in LeClaire.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a vehicle that collided with a train Tuesday around 3:11 p.m. in the 22900 block of Great River Road.

Officers say a Blue 2021 Tesla traveling westbound on a private drive tried to cross the train tracks but was hit on the car's driver's rear side.

The driver, a 68-year-old man, is in critical condition after suffering from serious injuries.

He was taken to Genesis East before being transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The accident is still being investigated.
