Iowa City Airport Gets Grant To Go Solar

(Iowa City, IA) -- Iowa City Airport will soon be powered by the sun. The oldest civil airport west of the Mississippi still in its original location is installing 300 solar panels on the main terminal building.

Michael Tharp, Iowa City Airport manager tells Iowa's News Now that funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill will cover the cost of the panels.

Work is scheduled to being in April. The solar panels are expected to be in place by late summer/early fall.
