Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Investigated

Sheriff Aaron Hanson says a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal and administrative investigation.

A news release says the Douglas County Sheriff's Office last Friday was made aware of accusations of inappropriate conduct against a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy assigned as a School Resource Officer to Elkhorn South High School.

The Sheriff authorized an investigation, and the unnamed Deputy was immediately removed from the school assignment and placed on administrative assignment status.

The criminal investigation is ongoing, and Wednesday the Deputy was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal and internal investigations.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says staff is working closely with the Elkhorn Public School administration and is asking anyone with further information to contact the DCSO Tip Line at 402-444-6000.

The Sheriff also reminds parents and/or students they can contact the "Safe2Help Nebraska Hotline" at 531-299-7233 or via the Safe2Help Nebraska app.
