Nebraska State Patrol Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting

At the request of the Columbus Police Department, the Nebraska State Patrol Special Investigations Team is now looking into the death of a teenager in an an officer-involved shooting in Columbus.

Investigators say police were carrying out a welfare check Tuesday afternoon on a teenager who was potentially harming himself.

They say during the check, a police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old male.

The officer who was involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard operating procedure during this kind of investigation.
