(Iowa City, IA) -- The University of Iowa is looking to add over a thousand parking spots to its westside campus.

UI will ask the Iowa Board of Regents at its February 28 meeting for approval to spend $60-million on a new parking ramp next to Carver-Hawkeye Arena and the College of Dentistry.

The ramp would include 1,000-1,200 parking spaces, along with reconfiguring the east parts of lots 33, 40, and 44, would provide a net increase of 800 spaces.

The ramp would also create more parking for the dental clinics and athletics events.

If approved, the project would not begin until the Hawkeye Parking Ramp is completed either this year or in early 2025.
