Historic Exhibition Brings Iowa Art Into View

(Des Moines, IA) -- The longest running art exhibition in Des Moines wraps up its annual show at Hoyt Sherman Place Sunday afternoon. 148 pieces of original art in the were on display during the exhibition, plus the permanent art collection.

She says that they've seen both traditional and contemporary forms of art entered in this year's showing.

"There's space in this for everybody's work of art, and I hope more people will see it that way," said Kathleen Murrin, Des Moines Women's Club member and co-chair of the exhibition, "art is accessible to everyone."

Hoyt Sherman has the oldest fine art collection in Des Moines, dating back to the 1800s.
