Davenport Delays Vote On Pay Raises And Bonuses

(Davenport, IA) -- Davenport City Council faced nearly two hours of disapproval from residents over a plan to give the acting city administrator a 5-thousand dollar a month raise, and the interim city attorney a 50-thousand dollar bonus at a meeting last night.

Several former city leaders questioned how much due diligence Council has done on the agreements, while many speakers were also concerned about the cost to taxpayers.

Some city employees are threatening to file federal equal pay claims.

The pay increase votes were tabled by Council until the next meeting on April 3rd.
