Book Excerpt Controversy In Nebraska Legislature

(Lincoln, NE) -- Controversy comes to the Legislature as a Nebraska State Senator draws criticism for reading aloud a book passage depicting a sexual assault.

It was during a floor debate Monday evening over materials available to children in schools.

State Senator Steve Halloran read the passage, while inserting the name of State Senator Michaela Cavanaugh.

The reading led to a motion by State Senator Megan Hunt to end the session early, amid calls for Halloran to immediately resign from the Nebraska Legislature.
