Ames, Iowa plant releases workplace death details

UPDATE:

An Ames company is releasing more details about a workplace death.   The Danfoss company says 45-year-old John Lavery died Thursday afternoon at the 13th Street location.   Danfoss says Lavery was hit by a motor testing operation, safety hood that fell.  

Lavery died at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Danfoss says Lavery had been with the company just there months.    

The company says, because of the incident they are replacing safety hoods.

(AMES, Iowa)   An investigation is underway into a workplace death in Ames.  Jens Nissen of the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Office in Des Moines is confirming to WHO Radio News, there was a workplace death yesterday (Thursday) afternoon at the Danfoss plant on East 13th Street in Ames.

The company is closed today.  The name of the person who died has not been released.

Danfoss is headquartered in Denmark,  It employs more than 1,000 people at its Ames facilities, which make hydraulic transport components.
