(Des Moines, Iowa) Des Moines Police are investigating an armed robbery reported late this (Thursday) morning near the Iowa Methodist Medical Center's Emergency Room entrance.
Unity Point Health-Des Moines Spokesperson Amy Varcoe tells WHO-Radio News a hospital visitor was approached just after 11 o'clock this (Thursday) morning, in a parking lot by a man who showed a hand-gun and demanded money. Once the victim handed over money, the suspect ran away.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, wearing a blue hoodie and black pants. He has black hair, brown eyes, and what's described as a "low" beard.
No shots were fired during the robbery.
Unity Point Health-Des Moines has increased security patrols around the area.
