Man charged in fatal Des Moines crash out on bond

DES MOINES, Iowa- The man charged in a fatal crash on Des Moines'  east side is out of jail on bond.   Thirty-three-year-old Grant Uhe is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 19-year-old Tyler Wilcox.   

Wilcox died after a crash at East 29th and Madison Avenue April 19th.   Police say Uhe’s pick up traveling more than 75 miles per hour in a 30 mile an hour zone.

Bond was originally set at $100,000 but was reduced to $20,000.

Uhe, who is now at his east Des Moines home, is also listed on the Iowa sex offender registry.  The site lists nine victims of indecent exposure by Uhe in three separate Iowa counties. He is a tier two sex offender which requires him to verify his information every six months.

A public safety assessment risk profile used to set Uhe's bond shows he has no history of felony convictions but has three or more violent convictions, previous incarcerations and a history of failing to appear in court, according to a report by WHO Channel 13.

Uhe declined to comment.
