Des Moines Police name fatal crash victim

UPDATE:  Des Moines Police say the person who died after a crash at East 29th Street and Madison Avenue, was 19-year-old Tyler Wilcox of Des Moines.    Police say the investigation into the crash continues.

(DES MOINES, Iowa)  Des Moines Police say a 19-year-old male died after a crash this (Thursday), on the city's east side.  Police were called to East 29th and Madison shortly before 10 a.m.  

Sergeant Paul Parezik tells WHO Radio News the crash involved a car and a pick-up truck.  The 19-year-old was taken to a Des Moines hospital, where he was pronounced dead.   He says investigators are looking two possible factors in the crash, speeding and failure to obey a stop sign.

Parezik says the car was westbound on Madison, the pick-up was headed north on East 29th, when two vehicles collided.

The driver of the pick-up has been identified as 33-year-old Grant Uhe of Des Moines.   Police say Uhe had minor injuries, but refused to go the hospital.

A serious crash this morning on Des Moines' east side, has blocked part of East 29th Street, between Madison Avenue and Shawnee Avenue.   Police say it may be closed through the Noon hour.
