Des Moines drowning victim's body recovered

The search is over for the body of a man who apparently drowned in the Des Moines River.

Police say 56-year old Ronald Charles Weaver was seen struggling in the water on Memorial Day.  Rescue crews were not able to find him at the time.  But, Sunday night, a fisherman saw a body near the Southeast 6th bridge.  The Metro STAR dive team then recovered Weaver's body.

Weaver's death is still being investigated by police and the Polk County Medical Examiner.
