Two Iowa men charged with cutting state trees

Two western Iowa men are charged with cutting down and selling Walnut trees from a state owned park.

Thirty-eight year old Bradley Hagerman of Pisgah and 30 year old Eric Freihage of Council Bluffs are both charged with 2nd Degree Theft, and misdemeanor Timber Buyer violations.

Both Admitted to an Iowa DNR Conservation Officer they transported and sold nine Walnut trees in January of this year.

The live trees were cut down by Freihage and Hagerman at Loess Hills State Forest, which is a state owned and DNR managed park.

The two sold the trees to Midwest Walnut in Council Bluffs and received more than $4,713 in compensation.

The trees have an appraised value of over $7,500.

Both Hagerman and Freihage turned themselves into authorities after the arrest warrants were issued and have since bonded out.
