Gunfire was heard this morning in the 13-hundred block of East 12th, on Des Moines' east side.
Just before 4:30 Wednesday morning, one person suffered a gun shot wound.
Police Sgt. Paul Parezik tells WHO Radio News the victim is 26 years old and was alert and conscious when taken to Mercy Hospital. He believes the wound is not life-threatening.
We don't have a name or condition report of the victim at this point, early in the investigation and Sgt. Parezik says the suspected shooter is being sought.
