A 19 year old Grimes man drowned Saturday morning at Lake Panorama.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says Ashton Meier was kayaking with friends on the lake. He suddenly left the kayak and went underwater. After a short time, bystanders found him and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
He was taken by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines and was pronounced dead Saturday night.
